*Ronald Bain Thomson (1912-1984) was awarded the D.S.O. for anti-submarine operations in 1943. The D.F.C. was awarded for sinking a U-boat whilst under heavy attack, leading to then Wing Commander Thomson landing on the sea, he was stranded on a dinghy at sea for three days with his crew.
